Description

This 12 Years Old is an old Pure Islay Malt bottling under the White Horse Distillers name, the blending house Lagavulin was licensed under until around 2000. A vintage collectable. The distillery dates to 1816, on the rocky south shore of Islay at Lagavulin Bay.

Peter Mackie, who ran Lagavulin, created the White Horse blend in 1890 around the distillery's malt. Matured in ex-Bourbon casks, twelve years carry the coastal smoke.

Bottled at 43%. Guaiacol and phenols give the smoke, the ex-Bourbon adding vanilla. The recorded note is a dry sandy edge. A vintage White Horse era Lagavulin.
