Description

This is a Hand Filled distillery-only Lagavulin, Batch 002, a 12 year old finished in Madeira and filled at the distillery in 2025. One of Islay's south-coast distilleries, Lagavulin was founded in 1816.

Onion-shaped stills and a slow run give Lagavulin its weight. Matured in ex-Bourbon and finished in a Madeira cask, the fortified wine wood adds a candied note to the smoke.

At its natural strength of 53.5%. The peat smoke is all guaiacol and phenols, the Madeira giving candied citrus and a faint burnt-sugar tang. A Madeira-finished hand-filled Lagavulin.
