Description
La Serpiente Emplumada, the feathered serpent, takes its name and label from Quetzalcoatl, the Aztec deity. It is a 100% Blue Weber tequila grown in Jalisco, made from a mix of agave cooked in autoclave and in stone ovens, slowly fermented and twice distilled in stainless kettles before resting at least six months in American white oak barrels. The producer states that no artificial additives are used.
The rest gives a velvety, light bodied reposado with medium to full fruitiness. Aromas span agave, honey, beeswax, lime, bergamot, fig, orange peel and walnut, while the palate shows agave, roasted orange peel, black pepper and clove. A long, gently tingling finish lifts notes of honey roasted pineapple and papaya. Bottled at 40%, it is an approachable, well balanced rested tequila that keeps the agave legible beneath restrained oak.
