Kanosuke Single Malt

Kanosuke Single Malt is a no age statement single malt from Kanosuke, Komasa's coastal Kagoshima distillery, bottled in 2022 at cask strength for global markets. It represents the distillery's standard single malt range, an accessible entry into Kanosuke's output without the vintage specificity of the dated releases.

Matured in Ex-Bourbon casks, the expression shows dried fruit and a light, oily texture in the profile, the latter a not uncommon trait in pot still distillate from smaller stills where the cut retains some of the heavier esters. The bourbon wood provides structure and vanilla against that fruitiness, while the Kagoshima coastal warmth has rounded the spirit well by the time of bottling. At 59% cask strength the expression is full-bodied and direct, giving a clear picture of the distillery's character without the additional complexity of wine, sherry or shochu finishing.
