Batch 5 came in The Hearach's First Release year of 2023, the wave that brought the Isle of Harris its first ever single malt. This batch was matured in Oloroso sherry casks, an outturn of 12,326 bottles for Europe.

The Isle of Harris Distillery opened in 2015 as a Social Distillery, built to anchor an Outer Hebrides island of fewer than 2,000 people. Its lightly peated spirit reflects island hearth fires. Matured in Oloroso, the sherry wood pulls the young malt towards dried fruit.

Bottled at 46%, uncoloured and without chill filtration. The Oloroso gives fig and raisin from its melanoidins, the gentle peat threading through. The recorded notes run to fresh fruit, a mossy earthiness and vanilla, over a coastal salinity. A historic early sherried batch.
