Isle of Harris Distillers Ltd. The Hearach First Fill Oloroso Cask Matured Cask #Batch 03

Batch 03 of The Hearach's First Fill Oloroso line takes the Isle of Harris single malt and matures it entirely in first fill Oloroso sherry casks. A large outturn of 12,100 bottles for the Netherlands, it shows the sherried side of the young island malt.

The Tarbert distillery opened in 2015 as a Social Distillery to support a fragile Hebridean community, and its lightly peated Hearach revived island distilling. Matured in first fill Oloroso, the active sherry wood pulls a young spirit towards dark fruit.

Bottled at 46%, non-chill-filtered and uncoloured. The Oloroso gives fig and raisin from its melanoidins, with a walnut dryness from the tannins, the gentle peat woven through. Rich, sherried and lightly smoky, with a coastal edge.
