Description
Hochriegl is one of Austria's historic sparkling wine houses, with well over a century of Sekt behind it and a firm place in the Viennese sparkling tradition. This Trocken bottling is made in the fresh, accessible style the house is known for, the fizz created in stainless steel tanks so the primary fruit of the base wine stays clear and unmasked. Typical of Austrian dry Sekt, the blend leans on the country's workhorse white grapes for a crisp, direct profile, and the dosage is set to a dry finish.
The colour is a light straw yellow with a fine, lively bead. The nose is fresh and direct, with green apple, citrus and pear over a light floral lift. The palate is crisp and dry, the acidity clean and the finish saline and fresh. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees. It makes a straightforward aperitif and suits white fish, lighter shellfish and fresh salads.
