Description
Leo Hillinger is a well known winery in Burgenland, Austria, and this Secco Rose is its take on relaxed, fruit-led fizz. Unlike a traditional-method sparkling wine, a Secco starts as a still rose fermented cool in stainless steel to keep the fruit fresh, with carbon dioxide then added to give the soft, lively perlage. The result is delicately fruity and easy to drink rather than complex, finished Extra Dry so it stays fresh and lightly fruity. The magnum format suits gatherings and warm-weather tables.
The colour is a delicate rose with a fine, elegant bead. The nose leads with strawberry and red berries, backed by red currant, a touch of white peach and a light floral rose note. The palate is refreshing and gently fruity, with well integrated acidity and a harmonious, pleasantly long finish. Serve well chilled at around 5 to 7 degrees. It works as an aperitif and alongside light starters, finger food, summer salads, antipasti and fruity desserts.
