A single-cask cask-strength Martinique white from A1710, made from rare red cane and organic fresh juice, dry and earthy with banana, grass and a saline, iodine-touched finish, vivid and full at 52.5%.
Description
A1710 distils at the Habitation du Simon in Martinique, a boutique operation known for working outside the AOC with rare cane varieties and a single-cane approach. This La Perle Rare is made from Canne Rouge, a red sugar-cane variety, grown organically and pressed for fresh juice, then bottled as a single cask at cask strength.
The spirit is vivid and dry, fresh sugar-cane and ripe banana on the nose, a grassy, earthy, dry palate, and a finish carrying vanilla, banana and a distinctive saline, iodine note. Distilled on a column still and bottled unsweetened at 52.5%, it has real intensity and the snap of a serious cane-juice white. The single-cane, organic angle gives it a clear sense of terroir, and the high proof concentrates everything. This is a characterful, undiluted Martinique blanc for drinkers who want their agricole vivid, dry and full of cane personality.
