A blanc from Martinique craft house A1710, distilled at Habitation du Simon from fresh cane juice and bottled cask strength at 50.9%, fresh, floral and mineral on the nose with an oily, peppery palate and a lift of orange on the finish.
Description
A1710 is a small Martinique house known for parcel-led, hands-on distilling at Habitation du Simon, and this Bête à Feu is a white rhum made from fresh-pressed sugar cane juice. Bottled at full cask strength, 50.9% and undiluted, it captures the cane spirit before any time in oak.
Left unaged so the distillate speaks plainly, it noses fresh and intense with floral and mineral notes that point to careful column distillation. The palate is oily and full with a fresh, warm core and a clear peppery bite, while the finish carries that white pepper through alongside a bright twist of orange. The strength gives it presence and texture without turning harsh. A vivid, characterful blanc that rewards neat sipping and makes a commanding base for a Ti Punch.
