A1710 distils at Habitation du Simon on Martinique, and this La Perle Rare singles out one cane variety, B 59 92, from the 2022 harvest. Pressed from fresh cane juice and run on a column still, it is left unaged and bottled at full cane strength of 54.1%, the kind of bright, undiluted blanc that puts the raw material front and centre.

The cane does indeed jump out of the glass: sugar cane sap and a green, vegetal lift carry lime and a faint sugary sweetness, while the palate keeps that grassy agricole backbone and folds in ripe tropical fruit. The finish stays fresh and snappy with white pepper and more lime.
