Description
Green Spot is the best known of the Spot whiskeys, a single pot still bottled for Mitchell & Son, the Dublin wine merchant whose green painted casks gave the range its name. The tradition is one of bonding, the family maturing pot still spirit distilled at Midleton in East Cork, the Irish Distillers site that has produced every IDL style since 1975. It carries no age statement.
Maturation runs across new and refill ex-bourbon casks with a portion of Oloroso sherry, building fresh orchard fruit, citrus and honey over vanilla, a malt extract sweetness and a light toasted note. Triple distilled at Midleton from a mash of malted and unmalted barley, it shows the clean, spicy, faintly creamy character that defines single pot still, bottled at 40%.
