A 13 year old GlenAllachie, a distillery bottling, from 2008, cask 5034, at 56.4%, 682 bottles in all. GlenAllachie is a Speyside single malt, revived in 2017 by the team of Billy Walker. Its water is the Lochnagar Burn, drawn down from the slopes of Ben Rinnes. It was built for the 1960s blend boom, its make long destined for the blender's vat. It was designed almost entirely gravity fed, an efficient plant for its time.

Worked unhurried through the stillhouse, giving a full bodied Speyside spirit. It was matured in an Oloroso cask, the wood working deep into the malt. By the integrating teens the raw notes fade and esters build, the rich spirit growing rounder and darker. The wood frames the spirit without ever stripping the full Speyside body. The casks are picked closely, the wood matched to the rich GlenAllachie make.

Bottled at a cask strength 56.4%, it is deep and concentrated. Baked apple, honey and a dark chocolate, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. The mouthfeel is full and coating, the fruit dark and sweet. The finish runs long, full and warming. This is a Speyside single malt of real standing.
