A 5 year old GlenAllachie from the distillery, at 48%. A smoky, sherried malt of fig, treacle and a warm cinnamon. This is from Meikle Toir, the big pursuit, its peated Speyside range. The peat is mainland St Fergus, for a sweet, oaky style of smoke. Often matured in sherry casks, the smoke laid over dried fruit. This is a rich, smoky Speyside malt of dark fruit.

Description
This official GlenAllachie, a 5 year old, at 48%. GlenAllachie is a deep, dark Speyside malt, this a peated bottling of sweet smoke and dark fruit. It matures its spirit in sixteen dunnage warehouses on the distillery site at Aberlour.
Worked unhurried through the stillhouse from peated malt, giving a full bodied, smoky Speyside spirit. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, the oak gentle behind the spirit. Young and extractive, the cask sheds vanillin and toasted sugars over the full, smoky spirit. Long ageing turns the fresh notes towards date, prune and a dark, bittersweet chocolate. Active first fill wood drives the maturation, the cask deep in the malt. Years in oak deepen the spirit to a darker gold, the body growing rounder and more resinous with time. The full spirit deepens with time, the cask drawing out its darker register.
Bottled at a cask strength 48%, it is deep and concentrated. Soft smoke, honey and a dark chocolate, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is full and smoky, the spirit carrying the peat. The close is rich and smoky, fruit over a warm spice. This is a full bodied, peated Speyside single malt.
