Glenallachie 16 Years Old 2008 Cask #900874 (Arranthony Moray)

This GlenAllachie was bottled by Arranthony Moray, a 16 year old, distilled in 2008, from cask 900874, at 59.7%, one of 50 bottles. GlenAllachie is a Speyside single malt, revived in 2017 by the team of Billy Walker. It was designed almost entirely gravity fed, an efficient plant for its time.

Drawn from a thick, full bodied wash, for a thick, ester rich spirit the casks then deepen. It was fully matured in an Oloroso cask, the wood deep in the rich spirit. Through oxidative maturity the esters concentrate, the orchard notes turning to raisin, fig and a dark chocolate. Years in oak deepen the spirit to a darker gold, the body growing rounder and more resinous with time. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and a soft coconut over the fruit. The wood frames the spirit without ever stripping the full Speyside body.

Bottled at a cask strength 59.7%, it is deep and concentrated. Fig, walnut and a bittersweet chocolate, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. A dark chocolate and a soft oak give it weight. The close is rich and dark, fruit over a warm spice. This is GlenAllachie's deep, fruity Speyside style.
