Description
An 8 year old Glen Keith from the bottler Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers, distilled in 2013, bottled at 47.5%, one of 1816 bottles. Glen Keith is a Speyside single malt from Chivas Brothers, light and sweet in style. It was the first distillery in Scotland to use gas fired direct heating.
It was distilled from unpeated malt in tall, narrowing stills, building the fresh Glen Keith style. An Oloroso cask held it, shaping the fruity spirit over the years. In these extractive early years the oak gives vanillin as vanilla and oak lactones as coconut over bright green apple and pear. The tall, narrowing stills give a light spirit that takes the cask well. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Keith character lead the way. Balloch Hill water and the tall stills give the light Glen Keith make. Built for the blender's art, the spirit ages with grace as a single malt.
At a natural 47.5% it is full and fruity. A clean, fruity sweetness, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. The texture is light and clean, the fruit lifted by vanilla. The finish is long, fruity and clean. This is a clean, fruity Speyside single malt.
