Description
From the Pitlochry bottler Signatory Vintage, a 23 year old Glen Keith, distilled in 1997, from cask 72593 + 72594, bottled at 52.7%, one of 513 bottles. Glen Keith is a Speyside single malt known for a light, sweet, fruity character. Its tall, narrowing stills give a light, fruity Speyside spirit.
Distilled light and fruity in the Glen Keith style, building the fresh Glen Keith style. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, the oak quiet behind the light spirit. Through the evaporative decades the spirit concentrates, esters folding into mango, beeswax and a soft honey. The cool Speyside air gives a slow, even maturation in the Glen Keith warehouses. The clean, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its apple and pear. It was Seagram's experimental plant, and still houses the Chivas Brothers lab. It was built in 1957 by Seagram on the site of a meal mill, directly behind Strathisla.
At cask strength 52.7% it is full bodied. Green apple, honey and a soft malt, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A soft fruit and a gentle oak give it depth. It finishes light, fresh and fruity. This is Glen Keith's clean, fruity Speyside style.
