Description
A 16 year old Glen Keith from the bottler Part des Anges, distilled in 1995, bottled at 55.5%, one of 233 bottles. Glen Keith is a fruity Speyside single malt from the Chivas stable at Keith. Single malt Glen Keith is rare, most of it coming from independent bottlers.
The spirit was distilled from unpeated malt in tall, narrowing stills, giving a clean, sweet Speyside spirit. First fill bourbon gave a fuller vanilla and a touch of coconut from the lactones. At oxidative maturity vanillin and lactones are fully expressed, the light fruit deepening to honey. Much of the Glen Keith make went to the blenders, a little kept as single malt. It was Seagram's experimental plant, and still houses the Chivas Brothers lab. The tall, narrowing stills give a light spirit that takes the cask well. Built for the blender's art, the spirit ages with grace as a single malt.
Bottled at a cask strength 55.5%, it is rich. A fresh, fruity sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. The texture is light and clean, the fruit lifted by vanilla. The close is light and clean, fruit over a gentle oak. This is a fresh, fruity Speyside malt from the Chivas stable.
