Description
Gin Sul is made in Hamburg, yet its heart belongs to Portugal, and this Laranjal edition names itself after an Algarve orange grove. The Altonaer Spirituosen Manufaktur builds it on juniper, coriander seed and rosemary, with the peels of fresh lemons and oranges carried up from the Algarve. Distillation happens in small copper pot stills, a slow and precise method that keeps the citrus oils intact and the spirit smooth.
The nose is aromatic and refreshing, juniper and citrus giving way to ripe orange and Mediterranean nuance. The palate is soft and balanced, lemon and orange playing against juniper, rosemary and herbs, before a long finish. Enjoy it neat or on the rocks, or pour over ice with tonic and a wide orange twist to bring the grove into the glass.
