G4 Reposado Madera 2023 is a 100% agave reposado from El Pandillo in Jesus Maria, Los Altos, the distillery of fourth generation maker Felipe Camarena, whose initials and lineage give G4 its name. Produced at NOM 1579 and limited to 5000 bottles for Dia de Muertos, the Madera designation points to its defining quirk: the entire batch of cooked agave juice was fermented in pine wood vessels rather than the usual stainless steel, lending creamy notes that carry through the spirit.
After pine fermentation the tequila is distilled twice in copper pots, here using deep well water rather than El Pandillo's signature rainwater blend, and reduced to 42%. Seven months in heavily charred former bourbon barrels follow, giving baking spice and gentle sweetness over cooked agave. El Pandillo is a reference point for additive-free, no diffuser tequila, and the balance between spice and sweetness reflects that restraint.
