Description
G.H. Mumm is a long-established house based in Reims, and Grand Cordon Rosé Brut is its modern take on pink Champagne, built to show clear red fruit rather than a floral register. The cuvee blends the three classic grapes, with a meaningful share of red Pinot Noir wine from selected sites giving the colour and the fruit character. The wine is made by the traditional method and matured in the house cellars for around two years on the lees, which brings balance and a gentle bready depth. A Brut dosage keeps it dry and precise.
The colour is a pale salmon pink with orange reflections and a fine perlage. The nose is intense, with strawberry, cherry and red currant over fine caramel and vanilla nuances. The palate is fresh and dry, with a clear fruit structure and elegant balance running to a precise, long finish. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees in a tulip glass. It works as an aperitif and pairs well with salmon, roast poultry and fruity red-berry desserts.
