Eichenwald Horizzante Muskateller 2023

Eichenwald Weine work in Austria, and their HORIZZANTE range is made in a frizzante style, lightly sparkling and built for early drinking. This bottling is pure Muskateller, the aromatic muscat grape prized for its heady, grapey perfume. Fermentation and the bubble are handled in stainless steel at cool temperatures, which protects the delicate floral aromatics rather than adding autolytic or oak character. The wine is finished dry, so the perfume reads as scent rather than sugar.

The colour is a pale straw with a fine, gentle mousse. The nose is openly floral, with elderflower, white peach and pear followed by a hint of lychee and fresh lime. The palate is light and softly fizzy, the muscat character bright and clean, closing dry and fresh. Serve cold at around six to eight degrees in a white-wine glass. It makes an easy aperitif and suits summer salads, fresh white fish and lighter Asian dishes.
