Description
Eichenwald Weine make their HORIZZANTE range in Austria as frizzante, lightly sparkling wines built for freshness. This bottling is a Blanc de Noirs, a white wine pressed gently from the black-skinned Pinot Noir so that the juice runs clear rather than pink. The bubble is set in stainless steel at cool temperatures, keeping the wine primary and fruit-led without lees or oak influence. It is finished dry, so the style stays crisp and appetising.
The colour is a pale straw with a hint of gold and a soft, foaming bead. The nose shows apple, white peach and pear with a light red-currant echo of its Pinot origin and a hint of white flowers. The palate is light and gently sparkling, dry and clean with a citrus-peel lift on the close. Serve cold at around six to eight degrees in a white-wine glass. It works as an aperitif and pairs with salads, shellfish and grilled white fish.
