Description
Don Julio Reposado is a 100% Blue Weber agave tequila in the reposado class, produced at the Don Julio distillery in Atotonilco el Alto, NOM 1449, the Diageo owned house founded by Don Julio González in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco. The house produces both 100% agave and mixto tequilas across its range; this reposado is drawn from the highland tradition of larger, sweeter piñas grown on iron rich red clay.
The spirit rests roughly eight months in oak casks, comfortably past the two month reposado minimum, which lays light vanilla and spice over an agave core that still leads. It carries cinnamon, black pepper and honey alongside cooked agave, with a savoury note the source likens to volcanic earth. Bottled at 38%, it is a polished, intensely aromatic reposado meant for sipping neat.
