De Bernard Prestige Prosecco DOC Extra Dry

De Bernard produce this Prestige bottling under the broader Prosecco DOC, which covers the plains and hills of the Veneto and Friuli and supplies the freshest, most approachable style of the wine. The grape is Glera, and the fizz is made by the tank method, with the second fermentation in pressurised stainless steel over a short period to keep the wine light, aromatic and primary. It is finished extra dry, carrying a little more sugar than brut for a rounder, softer palate.

The colour is a pale straw with a fine, foaming bead. The nose is fresh and floral, showing apple, pear and peach with white flowers and honeysuckle. The palate is light and gently off-dry, the orchard fruit carried by a crisp acidity and a clean, citrus-peel finish. Serve cold at around six to eight degrees in a white-wine glass or flute. It makes an easy aperitif and pairs with antipasti, seafood and salads.
