A Dailuaine of an 8 year old from the bottler Dram Charaidean, at 56.3%. Malt, dried fruit and a savoury depth fill the glass, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Single malt Dailuaine is rare, so most come from independents. The name is Gaelic for the green vale in which it sits. This is Dailuaine’s heavy, meaty Speyside style.

Description
This Dailuaine was bottled by the bottler Dram Charaidean, an 8 year old, distilled in 2016, from cask 90046111, bottled at 56.3%, one of 116 bottles. Dailuaine is a heavy, fruity Speyside single malt from near Aberlour. Its rich, robust malt has long been a backbone of the Johnnie Walker blends.
The spirit was made in large copper stills for a rich, robust make, building the heavy Dailuaine style. Ex-Sherry wood added a deep dried fruit richness to the full bodied malt. At an extractive age eugenol lends a clove note and lactones a coconut, the spirit rich, malty and full. The slow loss of the angel's share concentrates the rich, malty core over the years. Maturation in the cool north east keeps the rich spirit balanced over the years. Long ageing turns the fresh fruit towards dried fruit, fig, leather and a warm spice. It had its own railway siding and a little locomotive, Dailuaine No.1, known as the Puggy.
At its natural 56.3% it is concentrated. A heavy, malty fruitiness, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Dried fruit, malt and a savoury spice fill the middle. The finish is deep, rich and savoury. This is the robust, sherried malt of Carron.
