Description
A 13 year old Dailuaine from the bottler Hart Brothers, distilled in 2008, bottled at 54.1%. Dailuaine is a rich, meaty Speyside single malt from the banks of the Spey near Aberlour. Water comes from the Bailliemullich Burn, the spirit drawn off three wash and three spirit stills.
It was made in large copper stills for a rich, robust make, building the heavy Dailuaine style. An Oloroso hogshead lent fig, raisin and a savoury, nutty depth, the heavy spirit soaking it up. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the rich, full bodied spirit growing rounder. The clean spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit over a rich malt. Its rich, robust malt has long been a backbone of the Johnnie Walker blends. The rich, full bodied spirit takes cask flavour well, especially sherry wood. Most Dailuaine goes quietly into blends, a robust filler kept in part as single malt.
Bottled at a cask strength 54.1%, it is rich. A robust, sherried maltiness, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. It is robust and fruity, the full bodied spirit shining through. Dried fruit, malt and a savoury oak see out the finish. This is the rich, full bodied Speyside malt of Dailuaine.
