Cruz Ruby Porto

Cruz Ruby Porto is the house Ruby from Porto Cruz, produced by Gran Cruz and long one of the most widely sOld Ports in the world. It is a blend of young red wines from the Douro Valley, chosen for depth of colour and forward fruit.

The wine is fortified mid-fermentation with grape spirit to retain sweetness, then aged for a short period in large wooden vats and tanks. This reductive, low-oxygen ageing preserves the vivid ruby colour and keeps the primary berry character intact rather than developing the nutty, oxidative notes of a Tawny.

On the nose it offers plum, blueberry and raisin with a hint of vanilla; the palate is round and sweet with ripe red cherry, blackberry and a soft caramel edge. Serve it lightly chilled as an easy after-dinner glass, over ice as a simple aperitivo, or paired with dark chocolate and soft cheeses.
