Description
Corralejo Tequila Reposado is a 100% Blue Weber reposado from NOM 1368 at Hacienda de Corralejo in Pénjamo, Guanajuato, one of the comparatively rare tequilas produced outside Jalisco. The brand traces a long tradition on the site and rests this reposado for four to six months in French Limousin oak, the wood lending a tighter, spicier edge than the more common American oak.
The agave hearts are steamed in a horno style stone oven at 93 degrees for 27 hours with steam, then cooled, before passing through a series of mills to extract the juice. The nose shows vanilla, honey and allspice, while the palate is rounded and sweet with lime and lemon, honey and a little pepper, finishing mild. Bottled at 38%, it is a versatile reposado that holds up both neat and mixed, with the French oak giving it a recognisable signature.
