Carrere Montebello Rhum Vieux Agricole (Batch Année 2022)

Carrere Montebello Rhum Vieux Agricole is an aged cane juice rum from the Carrere distillery on Basse-Terre, sold under the long established Montebello name run by the Marsolle family. This is the everyday aged expression, a straightforward, traditional Guadeloupe agricole rather than a showpiece.

Distilled from fresh pressed cane juice on a column still and matured around three years in ex bourbon oak, it keeps a dry, cane forward profile. The nose shows fruit, vanilla, vegetal cane and sugarcane, the palate is vegetal and peppery on cane with light wood, and the finish brings pepper, fruit and a licorice edge. Bottled unsweetened at a mild 42 percent, it is an honest, no sugar agricole that holds its own neat for casual sipping and slips easily into a Ti Punch or longer mixed drink.
