Carrere Montebello La Brigade

Montebello is a traditional Basse-Terre agricole brand from the Marsolle family, produced at the Carrere distillery in Guadeloupe from fresh sugar cane juice under the island's IGP. This La Brigade is a cuvee bottled at 47.2%, an aged expression with an elegant, balanced reputation.

The rum shows the rounder side of Guadeloupe agricole, the nose offering wood, vanilla, nuttiness and sugarcane, the palate oily and medium-sweet in feel with wood and spice, the finish carrying coffee, dried fruit, wood and spice. While built on cane juice, the long oak influence gives it a mellow, spice-and-wood character rather than a sharp grassy edge. Smooth and well integrated, it suits unhurried sipping and shows the gentler, more polished face of agricole, a comfortable glass for those who prefer balance and warmth over the snap of a young blanc.
