A ten year Guadeloupe agricole aged in bourbon then cognac casks, this Montebello layers vanilla pastry, tropical fruit, citrus and menthol over clear oak, allspice and mocha at a gentle cask strength, certified unsweetened.
Description
Carrere Montebello Brut de Fut 2010 is a ten year old cane-juice rum from the Carrere distillery on Basse-Terre, Guadeloupe, bottled at natural cask strength of 45.3%. Distilled in 2010 from fresh-pressed cane juice, it spent its first seven years in American bourbon barrels before a further three in former cognac casks, a two-stage maturation that shapes its character.
The result is a balanced, wood-forward sipper that avoids over-oaking despite a decade of tropical ageing: vanilla pastry, tropical fruit and citrus sit alongside menthol, allspice and a mocha-tinged finish over clean oak and spice. Certified unsweetened, it stays easy to drink at this gentle strength, and is well suited to neat sipping where the pastry and cane notes can unfold.
