Cameronbridge 14 Years Old 2006 Cask #372974 (BB&R)

A Cameronbridge single grain, selected and bottled by Berry Bros & Rudd, a 14 year old distilled in 2006, from cask 372974 and bottled at 58.1%. A release of 309 bottles. Founded in 1824 by John Haig, Cameronbridge is the oldest and largest grain distillery in Scotland. John Haig's cousin Robert Stein invented the continuous still, and Cameronbridge was among the first to run one.

It was drawn from continuous Coffey stills for a light grain spirit, for a delicate spirit that leans on the cask with age. Ex-Bourbon casks held the grain, soft oak that drives the sweetness. At this age the grain is light and sweet, vanilla and toffee to the fore. The high strength spirit mellows slowly into a soft, sweet old grain. The Haig distilling dynasty traces its roots in Scottish whisky back to the 1600s. The distillery sits at Windygates in the Kingdom of Fife, near the River Leven. Light grain spirit like this gains coconut and toffee from decades in active oak.

At its natural 58.1% it is concentrated. The ex-Bourbon gives crème brûlée, coconut and vanilla. It is soft and deep, the grain and oak well matched. The finish is deep, oily and creamy. This is a soft, oily single grain from Cameronbridge.
