Description
Single grain Cameronbridge, an independent Brave New Spirits bottling matured to 13 year old distilled in 2012, from cask 227203/2012 and bottled at 60.1%. Just 283 bottles were filled. Cameronbridge is a vast Lowland grain distillery in Fife, working since 1824. Since Port Dundas closed in 2010, Cameronbridge is Diageo's only wholly owned grain distillery.
It was worked through column stills from wheat, for the light, sweet grain spirit Cameronbridge is known for. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, with vanilla and crème brûlée. Still young, the grain is soft and vanilla led with a toffee note. The clean grain base lets the cask speak clearly across the years. As well as whisky, it makes the neutral spirit for Gordon's and Tanqueray gin and Smirnoff vodka. Its single grain has long been sold as Cameron Brig, and since 2014 as Haig Club. Water comes from Loch Leven, the mash from wheat, the spirit off three column stills.
At a full 60.1% it is intense yet sweet. The ex-Bourbon gives butterscotch, coconut and cream. It is clean and sweet, the grain spirit shining through. It closes long, sweet and oily. This is a single grain from the home of Scotch grain whisky.
