Description
C. Dully Selection is a small Swiss independent bottler run by Christian Dully, releasing single casks at natural strength across a tightly curated programme of Scotch and other spirits. Distribution sits primarily within Switzerland and neighbouring European markets through specialist retailers. This Bunnahabhain comes from cask 2305, listed by the bottler as a barrel rather than a butt or hogshead. That points to the ex-bourbon American Standard Barrel format at roughly 200 litres. Distilled 2012, bottled 2024 at 55% natural strength.
Spirit distilled in 2012 was laid down during the Burn Stewart ownership era of Bunnahabhain, before the 2014 transition to Distell and the more recent move to Loch Lomond Group. The cask sat through the ownership changes in warehouse before being selected for this single-cask release at twelve years. American oak ex-bourbon barrels produce a consistent maturation profile across the industry: vanilla and coconut lactones from the toasted heads of the cask, with the heavy char layer adding subtle caramelised-sugar weight.
On unpeated Bunnahabhain spirit, twelve years in a single bourbon barrel produces a comfortable distillate-led profile. The cask is supportive rather than dominating: vanilla and soft oak spice frame the spirit's oily Margadale-Burn salinity, and the lightly maritime character comes through cleanly. The 55% natural strength is right where the spirit drinks at full weight without needing water, though a small addition opens the cask aromatics. Single cask, natural colour, non-chill-filtered.
