Duncan Taylor was founded in 1938 in Brooklyn, New York as a cask broker, relocating to Huntly in Aberdeenshire in the 1980s under new ownership and developing into one of Scotland's better-stocked independent bottlers. The Single Cask range carries individual full-size casks at natural strength, sitting alongside the Octave small-cask finishing programme as one of the bottler's two flagship lines. This 15 year old Bunnahabhain comes from cask 38551197, distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2024 at 54.4% natural strength after fifteen years in a single Oloroso butt.

Where the Octave range presents short finishing programmes in small recoopered casks, the Single Cask line shows the longer integrated spirit-and-wood relationship that comes from full-time maturation in a single butt or hogshead across a decade-plus. The cask wood character has had the full run to fuse with the distillate, producing the balanced profile that mid-life single-cask sherry maturation delivers.

At fifteen years in Oloroso, the cask supplies classic markers of nutty walnut, dried fig, leather and toasted oak alongside the Bunnahabhain coastal signature: oily texture, light maritime brine, the underlying mineral spring-water character that runs through the distillery's production at any age. The 54.4% strength carries both cask and distillate elements at full body without requiring water. Natural colour, non-chill-filtered, single cask.
