An unusually young 8 year old Signatory Vintage bottling from the Cask Strength Collection programme, released for the German market in 1999. Signatory Vintage was founded in 1988 by Andrew Symington in Edinburgh, later relocating to Pitlochry and acquiring the Edradour distillery in 2002. The Cask Strength Collection runs alongside the Vintage Collection and Rare Reserve as one of Signatory's flagship single cask programmes.

Filled into refill American oak in 1991 during Allied Distillers's intermittent reopening and matured for eight years across the 1996 final closure and the 1997 Glenmorangie acquisition. Bottled in 1999 at 60.7% ABV for the German market, non chill filtered with no added colour, drawn from cask #621. The 60.7% retained alcohol level after eight years is exceptional for refill maturation, indicating a tightly sealed cask with very low ethanol attrition.

Eight years of refill American oak maturation at retained high ABV delivers concentrated spirit forward expression. Cis and trans oak lactones (coconut, oiled wood) emerge at moderate concentration, while lignin vanillin and syringaldehyde contribute emerging vanilla and baking spice. The 1991 Allied era peat phenols (guaiacol, syringol, 4 methylguaiacol, p cresol) read at peak intensity with minimal oxidative conversion at this young age, delivering sharp phenolic smoke. The Ardbeg purifier ester signature delivers concentrated pineapple, lemon and tropical fruit at near peak expression.
