Ardbeg 27 Years Old Batch 19 (That Boutique y Whisky Company)

That Boutique y Whisky Company (TBWC) was launched in 2012 by Atom Brands, the parent company of Master of Malt, with a distinctive release format: each Batch carries a unique themed collage label by illustrator Emily Chappell, with the artwork referencing the distillery's history and surrounding cultural context. Batches are typically vatted from selected casks rather than single cask releases.

Batch 19 of TBWC's Ardbeg run, bottled in 2018 at 27 years old. The 27 year age statement places this near the senior end of the TBWC Ardbeg programme, drawing from Allied Distillers era stock from the early 1990s before the 1996 final closure and 1997 Glenmorangie acquisition. Bottled at 50.6% ABV, non chill filtered with no added colour.

Twenty seven years of American oak maturation delivers developed oak expression. Cis and trans oak lactones (coconut, oiled wood) reach expressive concentration, hemicellulose breakdown furans (furfural, hydroxymethylfurfural) deliver caramel and toasted almond, and lignin vanillin and syringaldehyde layer vanilla and baking spice. The Allied era peat phenols (guaiacol, syringol, 4 methylguaiacol, p cresol) have undergone substantial oxidative conversion across nearly three decades, shifting the smoke register toward leather, tarred rope and seasoned bonfire ash. The Ardbeg purifier ester signature delivers concentrated tropical fruit beneath the integrated phenolic core.
