An exclusive French market Ardbeg from La Maison du Whisky in Paris, drawn from 1991 cask #1900657 and bottled at thirty years in 2023. LMDW was founded by Georges Bénitah in 1956 and grew into France's leading specialist Scotch and rare spirits importer, with longstanding relationships across the Scottish distillery estate and a regular programme of country exclusive single cask releases.

Filled into refill American oak cask in 1991 during Allied Distillers's intermittent reopening between the 1981 mothball and the 1996 final closure, and matured for thirty years across the 1996 final closure, the 1997 Glenmorangie acquisition and the 2004 LVMH purchase. Bottled in 2023 at 47.7% ABV, non chill filtered with no added colour. The 47.7% reading after three decades reflects steady ethanol attrition through the humid maritime warehouse cycle.

Thirty years of refill American oak maturation delivers near complete wood interaction. Cis and trans oak lactones (coconut, oiled wood) reach saturation, hemicellulose breakdown furans (furfural, hydroxymethylfurfural) build caramel and toasted almond, and lignin vanillin and syringaldehyde deliver sweet baking spice. The 1991 Allied era peat phenols (guaiacol, syringol, 4 methylguaiacol, p cresol) have undergone substantial oxidative conversion across three decades into leather, tarred rope and seasoned bonfire ash. The Ardbeg purifier ester signature carries through as concentrated tropical fruit beneath the integrated phenolic core.
