Released through Ardbeg's Private Single Cask programme, drawn from the 2012 distillation cohort under LVMH owned Glenmorangie. The Private Single Cask label sits in the distillery's hand fill tier alongside Private Bottling and Private Reserve, with each release tied to a specific market, retailer, member group or event. By 2012, Ardbeg's modern operation was fully stable: fifteen years on from the 1997 acquisition, the stillhouse regime, peating specification and warehouse routine all firmly in place.

Matured on Islay for twelve years from 2012 across the LVMH owned Glenmorangie era. Bottled in 2024 at 56.2% ABV, non chill filtered with no added colour. The 56.2% reading sits in typical mid range cask strength after twelve years for an Ardbeg ex Bourbon cask, with steady ethanol attrition through the humid maritime warehouse cycle.

Twelve years of American oak maturation builds the modern Ardbeg signature in early mid age expression. Cis and trans oak lactones develop coconut and oiled wood at building concentration, while hemicellulose breakdown adds emerging caramel and almond, and lignin vanillin and syringaldehyde deliver vanilla and baking spice. Modern peat phenols (guaiacol, syringol, 4 methylguaiacol, p cresol) carry at full intensity for classic Ardbeg phenolic smoke. The Ardbeg purifier ester signature delivers concentrated pineapple, lemon and tropical fruit beneath the integrated phenolic core, characteristic of modern era spirit at this maturation point.
