Description
Cazcanes Blanco No.9 is a 100% Blue Weber tequila from the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco, the brand named for the Cazcanes people who held out longest against the Spanish conquest. It is an additive-free, single water source house bottled here at a sturdy 50%, where the extra strength carries aroma and gives a fuller, oilier mouthfeel than the usual 38 to 40% blancos.
Steam cooked agave forms the base, twice distilled in copper and left unaged so the spirit shows its hand directly. The nose leans on cooked agave, wet stone, baked pineapple and a floral lift, while the palate turns clean and earthy with sweet agave, lime zest, black pepper and a thread of anise. The finish is long and mineral, with that high proof keeping the agave intensity front and centre.
