Description
Gran Cava de Oro Tequila Reposado is a Blue Weber agave Reposado from Tequilera Puerta de Hierro in Jalisco. After double distillation it rests six months in oak, but in place of the standard ex bourbon barrel the house uses former red wine casks of white oak, an approach that gives the tequila its pale, light gold tone and a restrained wood signature.
The short, gentle cask time keeps the agave in front while adding a mild layer of vanilla and soft oak. The palate is mild and easygoing, framed by cooked agave and a light wood note, and it is built to be served neat at room temperature. Bottled at 40%, it is a Reposado that trades the sweeter bourbon profile for a drier, wine cask edge.
