Padre Azul Reposado Tequila

Padre Azul Reposado is a 100% Blue Weber tequila from Tequila Tres Mujeres in the Amatitán valley of Jalisco, the Valles or lowland zone, produced under NOM 1466. Founded by the Austrian Hans Peter Eder with a Mexican family partnership and a team of master distillers from Jalisco, the brand is known for its heavy skull stopper and hand laced leather sleeve, and the spirit ferments naturally before resting in oak.
The rest in cask balances the cooked agave and fruit of the spirit, with notes of fruit compote, pear, banana and dried orange from the slow cooking joined by vanilla, caramel, coconut and white chocolate from the barrel. The palate is dense and creamy with mocha, chocolate, nut and vanilla underscored by coconut, banana, caramel and a little orange. It reads as a soft, sweet leaning Reposado from a competent lowland house.
