Momotaro's Akainu, named for a fiery red dog of Japanese legend, sets out to be powerful and fruit-driven where its sibling stays dry. Distilled in Germany around a set of Japanese botanicals, it brings together amaou strawberries, yuzu, Yamazakura cherry and matcha tea. The pairing of sweet strawberry against tart yuzu, with cherry blossom and matcha for depth, gives it an expressive, layered character.

The nose carries ripe strawberry and fresh yuzu lifted by floral cherry blossom. On the palate sweet strawberry meets tangy citrus, with matcha adding a fine herbal spice and a whisper of umami underneath. The finish is long and harmonious, fruity sweetness set against tart floral notes. Serve it long with a good tonic and fresh strawberries, or shake it into a gin sour.
