Description
Eden Mill distils on the edge of St Andrews, the town the whole golfing world calls home, and this gin is an unashamed tribute to both. The recipe wanders past the usual suspects to pull in rhubarb root and red clover, then adds angelica root, heather, blueberry and star anise. It is a summer gin in spirit, marrying the local landscape and a bit of sporting romance into something genuinely refreshing.
The nose is intensely juniper-led, with floral notes, coriander, spice and that tart edge of rhubarb; the palate follows with spicy complexity, rhubarb again, juniper and bright citrus fruit. The finish is long, fresh and gently spiced. Pour it over ice with a light tonic and a ribbon of fresh rhubarb or a sprig of heather, and it reads like St Andrews in a glass.
