Spare, dry and uncompromisingly classic: bold juniper with a flick of spruce, then citrus, lime and a liquorice undertow. Four times distilled to a secret 1830s recipe of just a handful of botanicals, this is the export-strength Tanqueray that built the G&T. Long and piney on the finish.

Description
Tanqueray dates to 1830, when Charles Tanqueray settled on a recipe of only a handful of botanicals and a rigorous four-stage distillation. Neutral grain spirit is redistilled with juniper, coriander, angelica root and a touch of liquorice before the whole is rectified again, a deliberately lean approach that has kept this one of the most recognised London Dry gins in the world for nearly two centuries. This export-strength bottling carries a little extra backbone.
The nose is bold and slightly pungent, juniper with a hint of spruce needle. The palate brings citrus, juniper and lime over a faint spice and a liquorice undertow, leading to a long, resinous, juniper-led finish. There is really only one way to serve it: a generous measure, a good tonic, plenty of ice and a fresh slice of lime.
