Description

Sakurao Togouchi Peated is a no age statement blended whisky from Sakurao Brewery & Distillery in Hiroshima, released in 2023 at 40% for the European market. The Togouchi range draws on the famous Togouchi railway tunnel in Hiroshima for maturation, and this peated variant adds a smokier dimension to the blend's typically soft, accessible character.

Matured in Bourbon barrels, the spirit shows vanilla, cereal grain and light fruit, over which a layer of gentle peat smoke has been incorporated through the blend's composition. The extent and source of the peat character is not specified, and the blend's full makeup is undisclosed, but the result is a lightly smoky, easy-drinking expression that extends the range into a different flavour register.
