From RomDeluxe's Wild Series, the Danish house's line of young, very high strength single casks, this is a 7 year old Barbados rum from the 2016 vintage. Drawn from West Indies Rum Distillery stock, it leans toward the dry, edgy Rockley style rather than the cosy Bajan norm, and is bottled without dilution at a fierce 65%.
Seven years in ex-bourbon oak leave it young and raw: varnish, smoke and light wood on the nose, a dry, spicy, slightly medicinal palate with dried fruit, pear and citrus, and a peppery, intense finish. This is more about raw character than polish, alcohol forward and best taken neat in small sips or with a few drops of water. Unsweetened and youthful, a bottle to dissect rather than an easy, relaxing sipper.
