Description
La Favorite is a family-run Martinique distillery prized for its herbal, green agricole, and RomDeluxe's Wild Series is the Danish house's high-strength, single-cask line. This 2017 marries the two: a seven-year cane-juice rum matured in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at a single-cask, cask-strength 65.4%, with the brand's funkier, full-throttle approach on show.
The nose is floral and vegetal with green olive over sugarcane; the palate stays herbal and grassy with a touch of sweetness and more florals; the finish runs on grass, citrus, herbs and mint. This is La Favorite's signature green, earthy character intensified by the high proof, the heat well managed rather than raw. It is squarely for experienced drinkers who already enjoy herbal, vegetal agricole and want it at full volume, rewarding a careful neat pour or a few drops of water to coax out the layers.
