S.B.S Cane Juice (Single Origin Rum) 2023

Bottled by Denmark's 1423 under its transparent S.B.S Single Origin line, this is an unaged Jamaican rum distilled from fresh sugar cane juice rather than molasses, sourced from the Lluidas Vale distillery. Cane juice distillation is unusual for Jamaica, giving an agricole like freshness while the pot still keeps a recognisably Jamaican backbone.

Unaged and bottled at 57 percent, it is fresh, fruity and clean, with citrus, light pineapple, faint berries and a floral lift over green, grassy sugar cane and a gentle salty edge. The palate is round and light with the cane front and centre, finishing fresh and fruity. Certified unsweetened, the sweetness is purely from the cane. A crisp, expressive white that drinks well neat for study and supercharges a Daiquiri, a Jamaican answer to clairin and unaged agricole.
